In modern fantasy the term is used for evil wizard or for someone who enters a pact/granted power from a magical being. As in, not the undead stuff, but the warlock just be a different type of wizard or mage? I think warlocks should be more like necromancers since the term "warlock" is really just another word for "wizard", *edited: and not a seperate race. If warlocks do have some power over undead, what would make the Necromancers better at having powers over undead? Why would a warlock have power over undead? Powers over the undead are more of Necromancers thing right? Why couldn't instead of having power of skeletons, they have power of dumb/weak demons instead? Perhaps they would be called "Imps" instead of demons, because demons should be terrifying. I'm sure that whatever you decide will be an awesome optional mod, but as a whole I'm very confused and at least skeptical. Since I'm guessing a theme of the warlocks is having a few actual warlocks with a lot of servants, you could supplement the whole undead thing with getting small migration waves of cultists who have more specialized skills, since skeletons and zombies being master craftsmen or smiths might not make a whole lot of sense. You could even incorporate that with the way you would acquire "immigrants" or more laborers, so instead of waiting for immigrants you would gather prisoners and use dark magic to turn them into undead servants. Maybe something like a "Ghoul crypt" instead of a raiders drydock where you can instruct a group of undead servants to go out and raid graveyards for corpses or snatch women and children from local villages. So on that note I think something akin to the raider's drydock would work well. Obviously a big part of the warlocks would be collecting/using corpses, skeletons and live subjects for nefarious deeds and rituals. Maybe if a warlock dies some other way maybe the apprentices of the warlock will consider each other enemies and start a thunder-dome of murder until one is left behind. Being caught have dire consequences however. Or maybe one daring apprentice kills his master which grands the apprentice the soul and power he needs instantly. Once they have enough power they are recognized by the other warlocks as one of theirs. To become a warlock they need to kill of the other apprentices to bind their souls or something. Blood from a dwarf, souls from humans, devil wings to summoning circles or sacrificial altars. Similarly they would need to bring specific material to specific workshops. When they get the strange mood it may be with to bind themselves to demon or sell their souls or what not maybe depended on what kind of warlock they are gonna be. Maybe do Sith like thing, let them have a few apprentices that shows up now and then as migrants?īut how would a apprentice go from apprentice to warlock? I could imagine two methods: Kitfox Discord #modding-discussion channelīronzemurder and Oilfurnace (illustrated)īut how do we get more of them then? Or replace killed warlocks?
